Star Blunder
4th June, 2010
In today’s (June 4th) Daily Star David Gray states that "the section of the Bass Fishing Conservation By-law no. 826 of 2007 that imposes a ban on angling for bass during the spawning season, May 15th to June 15th ends tomorrow night".
On checking with the fisheries boards and several other sources we have found that this is not true. The bass season will open again on the 15th June as always. We are not sure how he came to his conclusion but along with the fisheries boards we will be contacting the Star to look for a correction and/or retraction.
Please continue to observe the closed season. The legislation is there to protect the fish to ensure that our stock is well looked after. Anyway it’s only another 10 days until the season opens again, so have your rods ready.
