Film Makers in Kerry and Cork

    3rd September, 2010

As bass stocks dwindle in other European countries, Ireland’s improving stock is attracting the interest of angling magazines and film makers across Europe.

Two film crews from Italy and one from France have already visited Ireland this summer. Cork and Kerry were the destinations covered and those involved were delighted with the quality of the bass fishing they found.

Setanta TV also filmed an episode for their forthcoming series "Food on the Fly", on fly fishing for bass in Kerry. While a couple of bass were kept for the cooking part, the whole "catch and release" ethos in bass angling was covered. The view that the only sustainable future for the Irish bass is as a recreational species was highlighted.

The Irish Bass Group firmly believe that the safest future for our bass stocks is to promote bass angling in Ireland as the best and only sustainable use of a limited and vulnerable national resource.
